The practice of outsourcing has become widespread in Nigeria despite resistance by organized labour. The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (which has exclusive jurisdiction over labour and employment matters) has, following the position of the ILO on the subject, held that outsourcing in itself is not unfair labour practice. It is therefore expected that the practice will remain a major feature of employment relations in Nigeria, especially given its efficiency. In this publication, we have reviewed the practice of outsourcing and its regulation in Nigeria.
